Hollywood has given us sci-fi movies for decades and entertained us only improving the quality and styling of sci- fi costumes. But the question here is, why aren’t any of the sci-fi costumes we see have embellishments or embroidery. Why does the western fashion show apprehension towards embroidery or embellishments use in sci-fi costumes? With my sci-fi costume designs I have changed the design philosophy of the age old, time- tested sci-fi costume patterns. I have made them ornate with breathable fabric.
Embellished Sci-Fi Costumes
I have added metallic embellishments to these designs with a hint of embroidery. Spandex has been widely used fabric for making sci-fi costumes. But in these designs I want to use fabrics like stretchable cotton or poplin as they are more breathable fabric for jumpsuits pattern used in sci- fi costumes. I have been a huge sci- fi buff since my teens and always wondered if sci-fi costumes ever got better or stylish. Most of the sci-fi costumes that I watch in Hollywood movies lack style and funk.
Funky Colors For Sci-Fi Costumes
Pink and yellow are the colors rarely used and to my knowledge probably not used at all. In these designs done by me, I deliberately chose colors like pink and yellow to give a funky look to sci-fi costumes. I could choose fabrics like flannel, jersey, scuba fabrics to make these costumes. Blue, black, and maroon shades have been overused and need a farewell.
